CAMPING EQUIPMENT "SHARE" POLICY

Love Thy Neighbor.  As Thyself.

A friendly, cooperative spirit among campers over long distances is highly recommended as part of club membership @ Adventure Avenue.

Including, equipment sharing whenever it's more efficient to ----- pack less ----- into the van.

This way, nobody really needs to "drag along" an entire campsite of unnecesary gear when it's not really needed.  Nor, should anyone be required to invest hundreds of dollars in new equipment, just to participate one or two times, if they have no tent.

Our equipment share policy is "voluntary".
We do not pressure anyone to do it.
Sharing is goodwill towards the entire group.

Lend a space to somebody else who might be without their own tent  Lend an extra sleeping bag, if it's needed. Let someone else leave their own ice chest behind, by bringing yours along for everybody to use. We try not to "exclude" some people in the community who don't own their own camping gear from participating with us.  Shared equipment.

By sharing, we also attempt to transport less "stuff" in the van.  More comfortable --- on the road.

Travel light.  Pack light.   Campin' out.  All Night.

Not to worry.    No surprises --- on the road.
We let people know if anyone is "in need" of a tent.
Before we leave town.   Volunteers only.

We ask questions about sharing equipment on our registration surveys for a reason.

The most logical reason to share is it allows more space in the van. The less # of tents and other camping gear we're required to pack into the van, the more space to "stretch out"  for comfortable road travel.

Also, it's generally much less hassle for everyone involved, if people only contribute a few peices of camping gear into the group.  You won't have to transport ----- too much "stuff" ---- to Metrolink, or BART.

Share a peice of equipment with others, and others share their equipment with you.

For example, if you offer "a big huge tent" that takes in a few extra people --- then, you should be able to use somebody else's "ice chest" for your food.  Or you can leave your own "lantern" at home, because somebody else will be adding the light the campsite during the evening hours.

There are lots of good reasons we encourage equipment sharing @ Adventure Avenue.
